Help us better understand the brain

What is intracranial research?

Intracranial neuroscience research seeks to understand brain function by recording and measuring neural activity through electrodes that are placed directly within the brain.

Patients with various neurological conditions may undergo treatment in which electrodes are placed in the brain. While the patient is being clinically monitored, they may decide to participate in neuroscience research.

Why does this research matter?

Intracranial research (i.e. intracranial EEG) allows for extremely accurate neural signal detection compared to traditional scalp EEG. This data gives us a deeper glance into how brain regions communicate, how the brain responds when exposed to stimuli like a photograph, and how behavior is produced.

Fostering Collaboration Between Researchers and Patients - Our Mission

The Laboratory of Cognitive Neurodynamics is committed to building strong partnerships with our patients, recognizing that their experiences and insights are an essential part of the research process. We deeply value open communication and the exchange of feedback, seeing it as a collaborative effort where both sides can contribute to and learn from each other. We believe that the science we conduct is enriched by the perspectives of our participants, and that this two-way interaction helps drive meaningful discoveries. By engaging with our patients, we not only enhance our understanding but also aim to empower them with knowledge.

We continuously evaluate the ethical standards of our research in partnership with a dedicated board of ethicists, prioritizing patient privacy and ensuring comfort and clarity at every stage of the research process.

Meet the Team

Our team is composed of leading experts with experience across a broad range of disciplines, including neuroscience, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics, clinical diagnostics, data science, biomedical engineering, and electrical engineering. By integrating our diverse expertise, we are able to tackle complex challenges in brain health with unmatched precision and innovation, driving real-world impact. While we are deeply committed to our research, we also believe in fostering a collaborative and enjoyable environment, where creativity and fun are integral to our success.
